A rich and diverse learning experience: The 2024 IAKS study trip to Australia offers three options leading to Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane in the period of 25 June to 3 July 2024, combining traditional and modern sports facilities, cultural landmarks, and community engagement – plus the flexibility of exploring Australian iconic landscapes and wildlife. Today we cast a spotlight on the Sydney leg of the tour (29 June to 1 July).

Heffron Sports Hub is the multi-activity facility that serves the Maroubra community and surrounds, offering programs and access to state-of-the-art sports, dance and gymnastic programs and facilities, catering to the inclusion of people of all ages and abilities. 

Nestled within Moore Park, Sydney Cricket Ground and Allianz Stadium are under Australia’s most esteemed sporting and entertainment venues. The SCG boasts a rich history and a diverse portfolio of sporting events and entertainment. It has been the proud host of Cricket, Australian Rules Football, Rugby League, Rugby Union, Football, Baseball, and even Cycling competitions, as well as major concerts. Allianz Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium and was one of the venues for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, and will host 2027 Rugby World Cup matches.

Sydney Olympic Park, once hailed as the venue for the “Best Olympics ever,” is a sprawling 640-hectare area. It features world class sporting venues and a diverse mix of residential, commercial, education, and entertainment facilities. Our visit to Sydney Olympic Park includes Aquatic Centre, Athletics Centre, Hockey Centre, Archery Centre, and Accor Stadium.

Parramatta Aquatic Centre is set to become a year-round destination for swimming, fitness, and wellness. Designed to integrate sensitively with its natural surroundings, the centre features a striking ring enclosure inspired by historical farm and river swimming enclosures along the Parramatta River. 

From 29 June to 1 July, discover impressing sports and leisure facilities, meet the architects and operators, and enjoy networking opportunities at Howe2Golf that combines the rich history of the indoor golf with state-of-the-art simulator technology, plus the Coogee to Bondi Coastal Walk which is a breathtakingly scenic journey along the coastline of Sydney’s eastern suburbs, and the visit to the Royal Botanic Garden established in 1816.
