The seminar will showcase recently developed facilities of regional and national significance in Edinburgh including the new Meadowbank Sports Centre and Oriam, Scotland’s National Performance Centre for Sport. It will also explore the Scottish sporting environment and future issues affecting delivery of sports projects.
The event will focus on the design development and delivery of these two major sporting facilities as well exploring issues in managing the operation of these, and other sports facilities in Scotland, including the challenges of balancing the needs of community, elite sport and universities. It will be an opportunity to hear directly from the teams that have developed, delivered, and are operating these and other similar facilities.
As with all IAKS events, it provides a great networking opportunity for exchange of knowledge and ideas on the development of leading sports facilities.
The event itself will run from 3pm to 5:30pm on the 17th at Meadowbank Sports Centre, with a full day on the 18th of April, at Oriam, from 10am – 4pm. There will be a social drinks and dinner event on the evening of the 17th of April, in central Edinburgh, and networking drinks at Oriam at the end of the day on the 18th.
Why attend?
The conference will be a mix of seminars and building visit plus the socializing events.
It is planned to host an informal drinks/meal gathering the night before. This is open to all but would be great to meet existing and potential new members.
The IAKS UK event will be of interest to anyone involved in the commissioning, design, construction and management of community, elite and university facilities, with a particular focus on current issues in Scotland, as well as the wider UK. The event is open to IAKS members and non-members.
This is a great opportunity to network and gain a better understanding on planning and operating community, elite and university facilities.
