A rich and diverse learning experience: This study trip offers three options in the period of 25th June to 3rd July 2024, combining traditional and modern sports facilities, cultural landmarks, and community engagement – plus the flexibility of exploring Australian iconic landscapes and wildlife. Participants will have the opportunity to explore different aspects of sports and recreation in Australia's major cities: Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.

Melbourne (25-26 June): Architecture, technology use and fan engagement

The site visits in Melbourne will be focusing on a blend of traditional and modern sports stadiums. Participants will delve into the legacy of the iconic Melbourne Olympic Park (with Melbourne Cricket Ground, Rod Laver Arena, John Cain Arena), AAMI Park (Australia’s premier rectangular venue which hosted the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup), and Brimbank Aquatic & Wellness Centre. Join us for the Architects Forum and the IAKS Network drinks and dinner. 

Experience the intensity and passion of Australian sports culture firsthand at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) by attending a National Rugby League (NRL) State of Origin game.

Kicking off with a Botanic Garden walk, followed by a perfect combination of educational sessions, site visits, and networking opportunities, such as Manly Beach, Coogee to Bondi walk, Heffron Sports Hub, Moore Park (with Sydney Cricket Ground and Allianz Stadium, Howe2Golf, Sydney Olympic Park (with Aquatic Centre, Athletics Centre, Hockey Centre, Archery Centre, and Accor Stadium), Parramatta Aquatic Centre.

The tour to Brisbane/Gold Coast will include visits to The GABBA Stadium, offering a unique opportunity to explore cutting-edge architectural designs. Sleeman Aquatic Centre will be part of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games. The Gold Coast Aquatic Centre is renowned for hosting the Commonwealth Games. A visit to a new sports community hub in Pimpama provides insights into innovative community engagement initiatives. Visits of Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane Lions AFLW High Performance Centre, and Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary are further attractions.
