IAKS Swimming Pool Expert Circle agrees on actions for 2022

The international pool conference in Asker (Norway), which was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, is firmly scheduled for 2022. The next document to be prepared by the expert circle will be a recommendation on how to proceed with pool projects. At ISWF 2021, Darryl Condon presented the results of the survey conducted on aquatic facilities provision.

New member: Thomas Waldner, Vienna (Austria)

The managing director of the agency Rocktopus specialises in consulting and implementation of major events in the sports and entertainment business. He gained his years of experience as managing director and project manager of the Donauinselfest. Thomas is co-founder and partner of the Hohe Wand Wiese trail centre in Vienna, Austria's first urban trail centre.

New member: Stockholm Football Association, Solna (Sweden)

Our latest member is the governing body for football in Stockholm County, Sweden. The Association was founded on 29 March 1917. Today, the association has 450 member clubs and represents 5,000 youth teams playing 40.000 matches per season. Stockholm Football Association is very much engaged in the goal to create environmentally sustainable football facilities.

Investment programme for low-threshold sports offers

The campaign 'Old gymnasiums - new opportunities' financially supports the modernisation of gymnasiums in Denmark. The goal is to create an informal meeting place for those who are not used to playing sports in their free time, a meeting place for the local community and associations. The sports hall also needs a new lease of life.

IAKS and FIBA sign MoU

Both parties agreed to create an expert circle that can advise for the design, construction and renovation of modern basketball facilities; and continuously adapt and enhance the knowledge about architectural and building-related best practices and operational topics, including the areas of venue and event management.

IAKS Switzerland members confirm Executive Board

Roger Gut will serve as President and Olivier Swysen as Vice President. Felix Vogt remains Treasurer. Martin Bühler, Roger Schmid and Matthias Hotz are responsible for projects. Alice Däppen will continue to run the office.

New President at IAKS LAC

Agustín García Puga from Argentina has been elected IAKS LAC President for the term 2021 to 2023. To herald a generational change, the long-time former President of IAKS LAC, Jorge Ehlers Hodar from Chile, has taken up the position of Director at the beginning of the new term.

Olympism 365: Strengthening the role of sport to pursue SDGs

The IOC endorsed the Olympism 365 strategy. It aims to strengthen the role of sport as an important enabler for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations and to connect people with the Olympic values everywhere, every day. Olympism 365 will work towards creating change in four interconnected areas.
