IAKS Nordic presenting at TRÄFFPUNKT IDROTT, 17-19 March in Gothenburg, Sweden

The largest trade fair and conference for sports facilities in the Nordic countries is held at the trade fair ground Svenska Mässan. For the second time, IAKS Nordic is presenting at Träffpunkt Idrott. This year, IAKS Nordic is hosting four seminars at the conference, all of which will be presented in English.

IAKS Expert Circle on Sports Halls discussed modern sports facilities in Cologne, Germany

There is a clear need for adaptable, modularised and mobilised exercise spaces that are in the right balance with standard sports halls. Twelve IAKS members from five countries from the fields of industry, operation and planning met under the chairmanship of Harald Fux, President of IAKS Austria.

IAKS UK Event 2020 in Birmingham, 9 June

The new GBP 50M sport centre of the University of Birmingham will be hosting the next IAKS UK event. The state-of-the-art sports centre encompasses a unique raft of facilities, including Birmingham’s only 50-m-swimming pool, as well as a large multi-sport hall, a range of activity and fitness studios, a very extensive gym, and six glass-backed squash courts.

The facility’s unique location right on the northern shore of Lake Starnberg was the do­minant feature behind the competition design of Munich-based Seifert Hugues Architekten in its refurbishment and extension of the indoor and outdoor swimming pool built in 1972.

New WHO-led study: Adolescents worldwide are not sufficiently physically active

The first ever global trends for adolescent insufficient physical activity show that urgent action is needed to increase physical activity levels in girls and boys aged 11 to 17 years. The study produced by researchers from the World Health Organization (WHO) finds that more than 80 % of school-going adolescents globally did not meet current recommendations.
