Allan is the Managing Director of J H Cockerell, specialist aquatic engineers, an Australian based company founded in 1976 with his father. For almost 50 years, Allan has been involved in the design of Australian public pools and their water treatment plants. He has worked with State Health Departments in an effort to significantly improve their guidelines for water quality in public pools.

Open-air hall as outdoor gym

The modular design of the McArena outdoor arena is now being expanded with an innovative tool: outdoor fitness equipment from PLAYPARC. The installation of permanently installed fitness equipment outside and in the roofed front area of the open-air hall creates a compact sports centre. With this extension, ball sports, fitness courses and other facilities are combined under a single roof.

IOC sustainability and legacy commission discusses objectives for 2021 -2024 period

On 5 Nov 2020, the commission reviewed the great progress achieved since the adoption of the IOC’s Olympic Agenda 2020 in 2015 across the areas of sustainability and legacy. IAKS President Dr. Stefan Kannewischer, who is a member of the IOC sustainability and legacy commission since 2017, is impressed with the achievements.

Originally designed in 1988, it is one of the top entertainment venues in the world by ticket sales and attendance levels, averaging more than 200 event days annually. For the redevelopment, COX considered important the design of the new public spaces and striking Eastern Annex, working to enhance the arena‘s identity and image, providing new entry points and access to the expanded concourse, retail offerings and amenities.

IAKS member Sport Singapore partners with Dow to divert shoes into sports flooring

The national sports agency Sport Singapore and materials science company Dow announced a pioneering partnership to catalyse circular economy solutions in Singapore. Both parties partner to divert 300,000 pairs of shoes away from landfill into building new sports infrastructure.
