Meet Lisa Mari Watson at the IAKS UK + Ireland conference when she will be presenting ‘Smart solutions for big impact: lessons from Norway’.
They do things differently in Norway – and their innovative approach to sport and leisure provision is attracting increasing attention from the rest of the world. Lisa Mari Watson runs the Norwegian government body Tverga which is on a mission to increase sport and physical activity through the delivery of facilities with a difference.
Large new buildings may not be the answer to boosting activity, instead she’ll explain how to be imaginative with what you already have, and how to make existing redundant buildings or places like school playgrounds more beneficial and active for entire communities. Find out how this can be financially, environmentally and socially more sustainable than new buildings.
This one and a half day Cardiff event addresses key contemporary issues within the sport and leisure industry. Have people's needs and the needs of society changed? If so, why? What are the new factors that drive these changes? Experts from across the UK, Scandinavia and Ireland will explore this and share potential solutions.
