Experts from Denmark will discuss challenges and exchange expertise in this workshop held on 7 November at 4.30 pm in the framework of the 26th IAKS Congress.
Schoolyards are one of the first places we learn to play and their design can have long-term benefits for remaining active. While investing in children’s play is one of the most meaningful initiatives a society can make, the benefits of an “area for playing” should be available to a larger segment of the community. Schoolyards can provide a uniquely accessible opportunity for those who have a more informal approach to active living. This workshop looks at some innovative approaches to schoolyard design as part of a larger and broader active realm.
From Denmark, we have invited Laura Munch, Project Leader at Realdania foundation, and Anne Dorthe Vestergaard, Owner at VEGA landskab and one of the designers of the Wonder Wood schoolyard and forest activity zone in Rebild - an animating activity zone connecting the schoolyard with the nearby forest.
The workshop is moderated by Wolfgang Becker from the Rif University Centre in Austria.
