New Zealand: Physical activity in COVID-19 alert level 2

New Zealand is following the strategy of four alert levels and has already reached the last but one level. Related to physical activity, alert level 2 continues to expand the opportunities for play and active recreation and reintroduces the opportunity for competitive sport at a local level. Sport New Zealand has put together the answers to commonly asked questions during the re-opening process.

The recommendations are grouped into four topics: General questions about alert level 2 (including gatherings); organized sport; gyms, studios and other active recreation facilities; outdoor play and recreation.

Sport New Zealand is the government agency responsible for the oversight and leadership of the sport and recreation sector from grass roots through to elite sport. Their role is to lead, enable and invest into the sector with the aim of increasing participation in sport and active recreation and ensure that there are more New Zealanders winning on the world stage.

Sport New Zealand has recently joined the IAKS and we are looking forward to more inspiration from “down under”.
