TURNBAR in Walter-Möller Park

In Hamburg’s Bahrenfeld district, Walter-Möller Park was completely redesigned and reimagined in 2025. With the integration of three distinct movement zones, the park has evolved into an inspiring place for fitness, social interaction, and inclusion. At its heart are three clearly defined, publicly accessible areas for physical activity, created with the support of the TURNBAR system.

Three Zones, One Goal: Movement for All

“Everyone” Zone – Easy entry point
This low-threshold area is intentionally open, inviting, and clearly structured. TURNBAR modules at moderate heights (pull-up stations, step-up boxes, balance elements, and training stations with pictograms) make it easy for beginners, seniors, and people with limited mobility to get started. It’s also ideal for functional training in small groups or pairs.

Multi-Generation Area – Movement as a shared experience
This zone is designed for diverse user groups and encourages joint activity: families, neighbors, and groups can train or play together. Well-arranged TURNBAR modules allow for versatile use—whether for stretching, strength exercises, or playful balance challenges. The area promotes encounters between young and old and invites spontaneous activity in a friendly, open setting.

Parkour Area – For creative and athletic users
The third zone targets the growing scene of freerunners, teens, and athletes. Designed with TURNBAR modules of varying heights, it supports creative movement forms like vaults, wall runs, cat-leaps, and precision jumps. All materials are sturdy, weatherproof, and vandal-resistant. A core principle here is openness: the facilities are freely accessible, without memberships, fences, or entry fees.

Movement isn’t prescribed – it’s made possible
Five key reasons the Walter-Möller Park sets new standards:

  • Clear zoning encourages targeted use
  • Active involvement of residents creates acceptance and identification
  • Low-threshold access lowers barriers to participation
  • Diverse uses: sport, therapy, recreation, and play
  • Urban design meets functionality

TURNBAR – More Than Just Equipment
TURNBAR represents a paradigm shift in urban design: instead of isolated fitness devices, it offers integrated movement spaces that combine functionality and invitation. The three zones in Walter-Möller Park exemplify this approach—with durable materials, clear design, and community participation creating a true meeting point for active living.

Conclusion: TURNBAR Gets Hamburg Moving
Walter-Möller Park shows how modern urban planning can shape spaces that are socially inclusive and functionally strong. The new movement zones are open, accessible, and inviting for everyone—embodying the vision of a vibrant, active city designed for people.
