DGfdB: Pool pandemic plan

The German Swimming Pool Association (DGfdB) has drawn up guidelines for the operation of pools in a waning pandemic. Its aim is to outline a procedure for the phased re-opening of public indoor swimming pools and the opening of outdoor pools. The main focus is on the organisation of pool operation.

The "pool pandemic plan" first of all describes the technical and operational measures that are necessary to shut down a swimming pool partially or completely without causing damage. Also of great importance is the resumption of operation, in which it is important to eliminate mistakes, damage and especially the contamination of water pipes and ventilation systems during stand-by, so that swimming pools can resume operation smoothly. Furthermore, the plan describes how swimming pools can be operated even in the event of continuing infection. This concerns not only the pools’ own personnel, but also pool users.
