Surprise at IAKS Study Trip to Greater Vancouver

Integrated community facilities are fundamental to the Canadian approach, and some of the components included came as a surprise to many of the delegates. Facilities such as the Edmonds Community Centre, Minoru Centre for Active Living, and Clayton Community Centre, in addition to traditional program spaces, included libraries, theatres, dynamic seniors’ centres, youth centres, carpentry shops, and community kitchens.

New member: Municipality of Bülach (Switzerland)

Founded in 1384, Bülach is a town with tradition and today the prosperous and growing centre of the Zürcher Unterland with a population of around 23,000. Among the large variety of sports facilities are an inline skating hall, tennis court, and a climbing and bouldering hall. The municipality of Bülach assists clubs and athletes and operates the sports infrastructures.

IAKS members had the opportunity to connect, network and create new ties to both local and international members, during the IAKS network event held in conjunction with Australasia’s leading community sport and recreation convention, at the 2022 National Sports and Physical Activity Convention held on 11-13 July.

Record attendance at webinar on stadium design

The webinar entitled „Stadia“ which was hosted by IAKS LAC on 21 July 2022, was followed by the record number of 102 attendees of the sports facility industry. Three experts from Argentina and Mexico gave insights on stadium design, sustainability and operation of three highly regarded stadia.
