Sustainable public pools: Design, technical and operational concepts
29 Oct 2025, 1.30 - 2.24 pm

Nick Yannakis, Director Aquatic Services, Beca (New Zealand) shares insights from over ten years of decarbonising aquatic centres in the face of rising energy costs. He’ll explain why understanding your facility’s energy profile is essential, the risks of switching energy sources without proper planning, and how data-driven, holistic strategies can deliver long-term, cost-effective sustainability.

Prof. Brigitte Häntsch, Owner, AHM Architekten (Germany) explores how hybrid, multi-story pool buildings—combining aquatic functions with other uses—can address space and sustainability challenges in dense urban areas.
