Decarbonizing buildings: A key topic at 29th IAKS Congress 2025

The latest “Global Status Report for Buildings and Construction” by UNEP and GlobalABC highlights both progress and challenges in the decarbonization of buildings. While more countries are taking action, slow progress and insufficient financing put climate goals at risk. Buildings contribute 34% of global CO₂ emissions and consume 32% of global energy, making urgent action essential.

At the IAKS Congress this October, we will address the pressing need for sustainable solutions - particularly in energy-intensive public facilities like swimming pools and ice rinks. From circular economy practices to Extended Producer Responsibility, we must push for innovation in design, construction, and operation. Join us in driving the change!
