Darryl is interested in design that acts as a catalyst for positive social change. As Managing Principal at Vancouver-based architecture and design studio, hcma, he has created engaging public spaces across Canada for more than 30 years, including community centres, libraries, swimming pools, ice arenas and high-performance sport facilities. He has lectured extensively across North America, South America, Europe and Australia. Most recently, these talks have focused on designing for social impact, inclusion and accessibility, the future of community recreation, and the power of transformative architectural practice. Darryl is a registered Architect, and a Fellow of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada. He is a Vice-President of the International Association for Sports and Leisure Facilities (IAKS), a Past-President of the Architectural Institute of British Columbia and an Adjunct Professor at the University of British Columbia’s School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture.
