Inside Roig Arena: an exclusive site visit

Roig Arena is also contributing to the transformation of Valencia through a wider “city-scale project”, integrating the CEIP Les Arts school, parking facilities, and the Afició del Valencia Basket Park.

Roig Arena: the first arena with an entire ceramic skin

The building’s orientation and facade design celebrate Mediterranean light and local craftsmanship. A secondary skin comprising 8,600 locally manufactured ceramic fins – angled between 10 and 63 degrees and arranged like scales – floats in front of a curved steel frame.

Custom-designed ceramic elements reinterpret the traditional use of tiles on flat walls to cover the arena’s complex, wave-like exterior. Parametric modelling determined the precise placement and angle of each fin, creating an attractive and dynamic building envelope.
