On 4-5 October 2022, IAKS Nordic gathered the Nordic members to meet both professionally and socially after two years of travel restrictions due to the pandemic. The event gave the participants the opportunity to see sports facilities in Copenhagen, Denmark and to meet in-person. The tour took place prior to the conference "Innovative Outdoor Activity Areas" in Odense, Denmark on 5-6 October 2022.
IAKS Nordic board member Ola Mattsson gave the participants a tour of a total of six different facilities. The theme for all facilities was "Outdoor facilities in the city".
The participants heard about the transformation around Amager with Strandparken, which is Copenhagen's largest beach only 5 km from the city centre. Amager Strandpark has a lagoon, city park and lots of activities all year round. The tour also led to the magnificent Amagerbakken, also known as Amager Slope or Copenhill. It is a combined heat and power waste-to-energy plant and recreational facility in the Amager district.
During the two days, the participants got to see: Amager Strandpark, Amagerbakke, Konditaget Lûders, Strandbad Nordhavne, Guldbergsplads and Søndermarken / Fredriksberg. In addition to looking at various facilities, we were lucky to get the director of operations and development in Copenhagen, Esben Danielsen to tell us about how the municipality of Copenhagen works to facilitate outdoor activity arenas.
IAKS Nordic would like to thank the participants and hope that at the next event we will gather even more members of IAKS Nordic.
