IAKS ANZ is organizing member networking event, Melbourne 12 July

Networking event for existing IAKS members at Australasia’s leading community sport and recreation convention in Melbourne on Tuesday 12 July. Come and connect with like-minded professionals eager to promote cross-sector exchange, collaboration and knowledge-sharing.

New member: Poirier Fontaine Architectes, Montreal (Canada)

Since its inception in 1985, Poirier Fontaine Architectes is an architecture studio based in Montreal specialising in the design of sports installations, particularly public aquatic facilities.

New member: Bergo Flooring, Anderstorp (Sweden)

Founded in 1972, the company celebrates 50 years as a multifunctional flooring supplier. All floors are developed and produced in Sweden and offer sports floors for both indoors and outdoors. Bergo Ultimate PLUSTM is specially developed for the tougher sports and is certified by FIBA and fully compliant to the European Norm EN14877.

Facility Tour and Indoor Sports Conference 24 May, The Hague, NL

Registration open until Friday 20 May (12 pm - Berlin time) International experts will discuss modern approaches in programming and designing indoor facilities for school sports or community use. The conference includes a guided tour of the IOC IAKS Award Gold Medal winning facility Sportscampus Zuiderpark. An excellent networking opportunity to reconnect in-person!

IAKS Spain: Technology and Sports Architecture, 3 June

The conference will see topics such as „European Economic Recovery Funds“, „Active Cities“, and „Implementation of projects by Administrative Concession“. The event will take place in Toledo, Spain at the campus of the Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha. The attendance is free of charge. Delegates can also attend remotely.

2022 IAKS UK Spring Event on 04 May 2022 at University of Birmingham

An insight into some of the facility infrastructure for this summer’s Commonwealth Games in Birmingham and exploring the legacy benefits of hosting major international sporting event. The networking event will give delegates a chance to learn more about the design and operation of the sports facilities at the university and a chance to explore them afterwards with a building tour.

The design solution is an unprecedented structure which is an incredible piece of bamboo architecture. The Arc is the newest gymnasium building on campus at the world-renowned Green School in Bali, Indonesia. IBUKU has pioneered a new design vocabulary, making its own rules along the way.

Eisring Süd Sports and Fun Hall in Vienna

The newly built sports and fun hall, a modern multifunctional facility, opened in Vienna in December 2021. Master planner RAUMKUNST has opted for an innovative, sustainable energy strategy in the overhaul of „Eisring Süd“ by using 100 % of the waste heat from the ice preparation process for space heating and hot water.

Over a facility’s lifetime, operating costs exceed the construction costs by a wide margin. Pool experts Darryl Condon and Dr Stefan Kannewischer explain why careful planning is crucial.

The new building designed by the architects Czerner Göttsch Architekten in 2019 takes bathers on a journey back in time to the period of the original building, while, thanks to modern building services, the energy requirements of the new pool are significantly lower than those of its predecessor, despite the fact that the water surface area is twice as large.
