Barcelona: Explore the legacy of the 1992 Olympic Games
Barcelona has been designated by UNESCO-UIA as the 2026 World Capital of Architecture. The Spanish Section of IAKS is proud to join this landmark celebration by organising a dedicated Study Tour that explores how the legacy of the 1992 Olympic Games continues to shape the city’s architectural identity and its sports infrastructure.
Through a carefully curated day of knowledge exchange and professional networking, participants will gain exclusive, behind-the-scenes access to some of Barcelona’s most innovative sports venues. The programme will also highlight how the facilities developed for the 1992 Olympic Games have successfully evolved over more than three decades of operation adapting to new demands, and we will also examine the transformative impact that the Olympic movement had on Barcelona’s architectural and urban development.
At each venue, attendees will benefit from guided internal visits and first-hand insights into design concepts and operational strategies, delivered directly by the professionals involved in their creation and day-to-day operation.
