Facts about IAKS Canada
IAKS Canada is a working group established in 2024. Our primary goal is to create a forum where recreation facility professionals can connect with each other, learn new insights, and exchange perspectives at a global level. We are also actively involved in trying to build a greater awareness of IAKS activities in Canada, and building strategic relationships with other Canadian partner organizations.
Canada is a large, diverse country. Some of the key topics that we deal with at a national level include capital funding models, advancing Truth and Reconciliation initiatives, response to municipal Climate Change commitments and inclusive facility design. In response to these issues Canada has developed a unique perspective on recreation facility design and operation that we have to share back to the broader global community.
Our activities
IAKS Canada hosts local study tours that allow members and non-members the opportunity to visit innovative facilities across the country. We also host webinars designed to bring thought leadership from other places in the world to the Canadian context.
